Hyde Park

Two houses on the river: Springwood, where the Roosevelts lived, and the Vanderbilt Mansion a few minutes away. The grounds at Springwood are the part you can walk without a tour ticket.

Springwood, the Roosevelt home, is a guided tour and can sell out early in October. The grounds and the rose garden are free. A weekday morning is the calm visit.
03 · Afternoon
The Vanderbilt Mansion is the second house, a short hop from Springwood. Tour times change with the season, and October is busy. Check before you promise someone the sofa.
04 · Sunday
St. James' Episcopal prints Holy Eucharist at 8:00 am and 10:00 am. We did not find a street address on the pages we read, so we are not inventing one.

Getting here

Metro-North’s Hudson Line is the calmer arrival for Beacon and Cold Spring. Hyde Park is a taxi from Poughkeepsie. New Paltz and Phoenicia want a car. Times on the day-trip pages are a guide, not a promise.
