Crowd level: Easy. Busy only at the obvious hour

Best season May–June and September. The park at dusk in warm weather is the local hour. Winter is handsome and quiet.

Vinohrady is 19th-century streets above the old vineyards, with a park where the city sits at dusk. You take the tram, you drink a beer that is not a show, and the astronomical clock can do its little turn without you.

The short version

The neighborhood was built on former vineyards as Prague grew in the late 19th century. Riegrovy sady was laid out as a people’s park above the tracks. The name is the vineyard. The park is where people still go when the square is a stage.

Food nearby

A neighborhood hospoda

A draft beer and a simple hot meal in a hospoda. The Old Town Square restaurants are scenery. This is dinner. If the sign is in three languages and the prices are in a decorative font, leave.

A park game, not a derby package

The big clubs have real stadiums and real marketing. For this desk, look for a district or amateur fixture in the parks. A packaged derby is the thing you were avoiding.
