Crowd level: Quiet. Room to linger

Best season Dry season, May–September. Start early. The sun on the ridge is the hazard, not other people.

Huchuy Qosqo sits above the Sacred Valley, an Inca complex you reach on foot. The view is the Urubamba and a lot of air. There is no bus turning circle at the top, which keeps the place honest.

The short version

The name is usually glossed as little Cusco. It is an Inca administrative site on the heights, reached by trail from Lamay or from the Tauca side. Some accounts tie it to Viracocha. What you can verify with your legs is the climb, and the fact that the tour buses stay on the valley floor.

There is no café at the ruins worth planning. Carry food and water. Afterward, a set lunch in the valley is plenty. Skip the buffet aimed at day-trip vans.
