Best season Summer, if they are open. As of this writing the safe assumption in October is that the stand is dark. Verify.

Arepas from a stand on the Rockaway boardwalk, seasonal, opened in 2011. Maribel Araujo and Aristides Barrios, from Venezuela, started the original East Village room in 2003. That room and the Williamsburg room have closed.

Worth knowing

  • Is it open

Do not use the old Williamsburg or East Village addresses. The boardwalk stand is the one they say remains, and only in season. Their site and their social posts have not always agreed on the last day.

The short version

The East Village shop closed in November 2020. The owners' own note says the Brooklyn room closed for good on 31 July 2022, and that Rockaway stays seasonal. Their site has said mid-May through September. Seasons have ended early. Check their Instagram before a trip. Do not go to East 7th Street.

That is the menu. It is a concession, not a dining room with a reservation book. If the season is over, there is no meal.
