What to do
The crossing
Open 7:00 am until the seasonal close. From October 19 through October 31, 2026 the page lists 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, then 7:00 am to 5:00 pm from November 1 through December 31.
The elevator
The glass elevator at Upper Landing Park in Poughkeepsie runs from 9:00 am until 90 minutes before the park closes. It closes for the season on November 29, and in heavy rain, high wind, or thunderstorms. Hotline: 845-834-3641.
The rail trails
The Dutchess Rail Trail continues off the east end. The Hudson Valley Rail Trail continues off the west end, past the park office on Haviland Road.
A quieter time
The page does not say the bridge fills. It does list free parking in Poughkeepsie on Brookside Avenue and at Pulaski Park, north of the Walkway on Washington Avenue. There is no car parking at Upper Landing.
Parking
The Dutchess lot at 61 Parker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, requires a vehicle use fee. The page does not print the dollar amount. On the Ulster side, the Town of Lloyd charges for Haviland Road and the Hudson Valley Rail Trail lot. That dollar amount is not on the state page either. Check parks.ny.gov.
Dogs
Leashed pets are allowed on the Walkway. Only service animals are allowed on the elevator.
Empire Pass
Walkway Over the Hudson is on the Empire Pass list. The park page also says the Golden Park Pass does not apply here.
