Harriman State Park
The page places Harriman in Rockland and Orange counties and calls it the second-largest park in the system. Lakes, 200 miles of hiking trails, two beaches, and camping at Beaver Pond and Sebago Cabins.
Checked Tue, Oct 20, 2026 on parks.ny.gov.
What to do
The trails
Dawn to dusk, seven days a week, year-round. The Appalachian Trail runs the length of the park. Some trails are still closed. A 2026 note says two Victory Trail links near Lake Sebago stay closed through the middle of 2027.
The beaches
Swimming is at Lake Tiorati and Lake Welch. The page points to separate hours for those lakes and does not print the swim rules in the fee block.
Winter on the lakes
If conditions allow, lakes may open for ice fishing and ice skating. Call the Lake Tiorati office before you treat that as open.
A quieter time
The only vehicle fees the page prints are at four lakes, and only from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. It does not say the trailheads fill, and it does not name a quiet entrance.
Parking
Lake Tiorati and Lake Welch are $10 per vehicle, daily, in that summer window. Lake Kanawauke and Silvermine are $6 per vehicle, weekends and holidays only, in the same window. Outside those lots, the page does not print a vehicle fee. Check parks.ny.gov.
Swimming
Swimming is at the Tiorati and Welch beaches. Read the linked hours on the park page before you go. The 2026 beach season in that fee window is over.
Empire Pass
The Empire Pass list names Anthony Wayne, Lake Kanawauke, Lake Tiorati Beach, Lake Welch Beach, and Silvermine. It does not print a blanket line for every Harriman trailhead.
